Obituary

Alfred R. Chalmers, 85, of KC MO, passed away April 12, 2026. He was born on April 28, 1940, in Shreveport, Louisianna to Lewis Chalmers and Edna Horn. He graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisianna. Alfred married Bettie Holmes in 1960's. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri, Alfred began working for the Burlington Northern railroad as a brakeman where he retired after 30 years. The couple had four children to the union: one additional adopted into the family. He loved to play golf, dog breeding, and was passionate about riding horses with his saddle club. He was a member of Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents: four sisters, Jenny V Casey, Ann, Linda Faye Collins, and April E Gibson: three brothers Louis, Dennis, and James.

Alfred is survived by his wife Bettie, sons; Christopher and Erna of Wichita KS, Carlos of Grandview MO, and Calvin of Kansas City MO: daughters Caterina of Kansas City MO, Catherine of Houston TX, and one sister Joyce Banks of Baton Rouge LA: 7 grandchildren: 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 10:00 am April 24, 2026, at Park Lawn Funeral Home 8251 Hillcrest Road Kansas City MO. Services at 11:00 am Followed by private cremation.

Repass at 2:30 pm at Church of Christ, 8501 Euclid Ave E, Kansas City MO 64132. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alfred's life.
