North Kansas City

Ann O. Cox, a warm and welcoming spirit known for her kindness and dedication to education, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in North Kansas City, Missouri. Born on April 15, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, Ann devoted her life to nurturing young minds as an Elementary School Teacher, a career rooted in her passion for learning and guiding children through their formative years.

After graduating from high school, Ann earned a teaching degree, setting the foundation for a fulfilling career in education. Throughout her professional journey, she touched countless lives with her patient and compassionate approach in the classroom, retiring only after many years of dedicated service.

Outside of her vocation, Ann was a lively and inviting host who loved organizing parties and spending treasured moments with her family and friends, who were many.  She was always so  friendly and exhibited joy and happiness wherever she went. Her joy extended beyond the home as well; she was an avid golfer, a passionate gardener, and an enthusiastic traveler, always eager to explore new places and cultivate new experiences.

Ann’s life was defined by the love she shared with her family, who remember her as a pillar of warmth and affection. She is survived by her son, Christopher Cox (Lisa); her daughter, Kendra Bruington (Brent); grandchildren Cameron Cox (Courtney), Elisa Cox, (Fiancé, Adams Stephens); Alec Bruington, and Brandon Bruington (Girlfriend, Canelle Vanderford); and her great-granddaughter, Capri Cox. Their lives were beautifully enriched by her presence and her unwavering support.

She was preceded in death by her father William Oldham, her mother Caroline Oldham, her brother William Oldham, and her sister Caroline Packer. Though these family members have passed, Ann's legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy lives on vibrantly through those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
