Obituary

Arvol Conrad Adams, 87, Kansas City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at The Laurel at Norterre in Liberty, MO

Arvol was born on November 3, 1938, to Charles Floyd and Wanda Evelyn Adams at Mt. Moriah, Harrison County Missouri. Alongside his sister, Anginette Adams Ward, he grew up learning the values of hard work and community on the family farm. He attended Mt. Moriah schools, where he proudly played on the high school basketball team before graduating in 1956. Arvol’s mother played the piano at the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church. He went every Sunday for 20 years and sat in the front pew to listen to his mom play.

Driven by a strong sense of duty, Arvol enlisted in the United States Army while still in high school, reporting for active duty just four days after graduation.

Arvol married Jane Hudson, they had two daughters Kelli and Kara. After his divorce he met Sharon La Follette Hurst. Sharon brought to the union two sons, Kevin and Kyle. Together with Kelli and Kara they made one big family. Arvol was affectionally known “Slick”, a nickname given him by his stepson Kyle in 1990. He went by that nickname from then on. Even at Norterre his door plaque read, “Slick Adams”.

Arvol became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962. He did income taxes for 60 years retiring in October 2022. Arvol’s reputation brought lots of work throughout those years. He was a member of the Alpha Masonic Lodge in North Kansas City.

Slick enjoyed playing a lot of golf. He also enjoyed playing a lot of pool, especially playing with his grandkids. Slick enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play in all their sports activities.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Kelli (Steve) and Kara (Steve), Two step-sons, Kevin(Alissa) and Kyle(Keli). Grandchildren Adam (Amber), Ashley (Eric) and Lucas (Ellie). Great Grandchildren, Edyn, Emmett, Ellie, Ryan, Kam and Tate. Step-grandchildren, Kody, Karson, Kyle, Karter, Kaden, Ayla, Aiden, Annabelle, Avara and Avrelia.
