B. Fae Myers

Fae Myers, 77, Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024. Family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Saturday, January 20 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, with a memorial service to celebrate her life following at 3 p.m.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Linden Woods Village for their outstanding and compassionate care they provided these past weeks.

Fae was born February 17, 1946 in Versailles, MO to Rev. Herman L. McFarland Sr. and Daisy M. Hess McFarland. Her father was a church planter, so they lived in various areas in the Kansas-Missouri area. Her fondest memories were of the years they spent in Plattsburg, MO. Fae was a graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, MO. She went on to attend Platte Business College where she met the love of her life, Donald R. Myers. After a short courtship, they married on October 3, 1964. They knew times of plenty and times that were lean, they shared times of rejoicing and times of sorrow. They understood the meaning of “in sickness and in health.” All that mattered to them was to be together, and they were for over 54 years before his death in 2019.

All Fae ever wanted to be was a wife and mother, and she got her wish. Don & Fae welcomed their much-loved son, Don Jr. in 1965 and their daughter, Ann, made the family complete four years later. She gave it her all at being a wife, mother, and providing a stable home for her family. She was their champion and biggest cheerleader. Being Mom was the most important part of her life. That is, until grandkids came along. Fae was a loving and devoted grandmother who took great pride in spoiling her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, whether it was playing games in the front yard, going to the park, playing make believe or video games, or singing and dancing in the kitchen. She loved every minute she could get with them and loved with her whole heart!

Fae was called to children’s ministry and spent many years as a Jr. Church leader and Sunday School teacher. Aunt Fae, as she was often known, had a knack for telling stories and making the gospel of Jesus come alive to children. She loved those children as if they were her own and would spend many hours praying for “her kids,” even years after she had last seen them. She had been a member of Kansas City Church since 1997, where she helped lead the clothing pantry and faithfully attended until her health no longer allowed. Her heart never left her church, and she would watch online as often as possible. Fae loved Jesus and would readily share Him with those she met.

She loved her family, going for rides and looking for wildlife, nature, and birds, especially hummingbirds. The beauty of the world was not lost on Fae, and she would often sit in awe of God’s handiwork.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, nieces, and her beloved husband, Donald R. Myers Sr.

Fae is survived by her two precious children, Don Myers Jr. and wife, Kim, Independence, MO, and Fae Ann Lightfoot and husband, Darrell, Kansas City, MO; four adored grandchildren, Mikel Myers and wife, Lynn, Harrisonville, MO, David Myers and wife, Georgia, Kansas City, MO, Sarah Allison and husband, Stephen, Independence, MO, and Juliana Fae Lightfoot, Kansas City, MO; twelve cherished great-grandchildren, Desiree, Zach, Tristan, Jazmyne, Jayden, Amelia, Seth, Eli, Carrie, Scarlett, Travis, and Logan (plus a bun in the oven that will make a baker’s dozen in August); special nephew, Matthew McFarland and his family; and a host of friends.

Fae dealt with chronic illness and pain for many years, but she handled it with courage, grace, and dignity. The last song that she was able to sing, just a day or so before her passing was "He Touched Me". Her faith in Jesus was strong and she knew the source of her strength, and now she knows the fullness of His touch. No more pain, no more sorrow, no more struggle.  Rest for a bit, Mama, you’ve earned it. Then go take a walk on those streets of gold that you loved to talk about. You will be aways remembered, never forgotten.
