Ben Earl Dusenbery, 84 of Pleasant Valley Mo passed away peacefully in his sleep on 4/21/26.
Ben graduated from Liberty H.S. In 1961. This is where he met his high school sweetheart, Lois Darlene Clark. He started working at Wabash Railroad in 1962 and retired from Norfolk Southern in 2002. After retirement from work and coaching, Ben and Lois moved to Branson Missouri, one of their favorite places to go and both worked at the Presley’s Mountain Music Jubilee. When they moved back to KC he went to work at WOF at the train station as an Engineer.
Ben was a long time youth coach which he started doing in the late 1960’s and didn’t stop until 2002. He coached baseball, basketball and football. He was the President of the Clay Platte baseball league for a spell and on numerous boards for youth sports. His passion was coaching football and that would be with the Norbank Raiders/Necco Raiders starting back in the mid 1970’s and coaching his last year in 2002. He was a mentor to so many young athletes from the Northland.
He also loved to do yard work and hated leaves in his yard. He loved to swing with the grandkids on the porch swing singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot to whoever would swing with him.
He is survived in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Son Danny (Gina) Dusenbery, Daughter Debbie (Nathan) Traxler, Son Scott (Cynthia) Dusenbery, Daughter Stacey (Kevin) Richardson. Brothers Mike Dusenbery and Oren(Poke) Dusenbery and sisters Jane Dusenbery Phillips and Pam Dusenbery Randall. Also, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by Parents Donald and Verna Dusenbery, brother Wayne Dusenbery, sisters Sharon Sandefur, Sue Lagana, Cheryl Dusenbery, Donna Reeves.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 16,2026 at Claycomo Community Center from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. This will be a casual setting.
