Betty Nolen

July 2, 1936 — August 26, 2024

Mrs. Betty J. Cheadle Nolen was born July 2, 1936, in Payne Cushing, Oklahoma to proud parents Elford and Mary Cheadle. She was preceded in death by both parents, brothers LeRoy, Donald, Ronald, Bill and Timothy, sisters Leoma, Erma Jean, Doretha, and Son-in-law Garry.

Betty attended school in Cushing. Booker T. Washington was the school attended by Betty, it taught Kindergarten through twelfth grade, which she graduated from. She left Cushing in 1958, moving to Kansas City, MO where she met and married Willie L. Nolen. This union had six children. Willie and Betty were together and happy for 37 years, until Willie passed away in 2001. Betty’s work history was flawless. She earned perks such as not having to time in or out for work, nor did she time in or out for lunch. That’s just how trustworthy Betty was, she did her jobs with great pride. During her career Betty worked for: National Bella Hess, Western Electric, and the IRS. For the school year 1979-1980, Betty received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Kansas City, Missouri School District for Volunteer in education where she enriched the educational experience of children and added new dimension to the school program. Betty’s greatest pass time was reading her Bible, pouring into others. Betty certainly loved Sunday School, God and her family. She never met a stranger; all called her Mother. She was a faithful member of Progressive C.O.G.I.C. in Kansas City, MO where she served many years. Betty’s kind and gentle Spirit caused everyone to love her. She was a woman of wisdom always dropping Jewels.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory 6 children James (Annette), Vanessa, Xynobia, Mary (Bradford Sr.), William (Lorraine), and Elford. Brother Charles Cheadle Sr. 15 Grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Edith Cheadle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well as her Progressive C.O.I.G.C. Church family.
