Beverly Jean (Bev) Sell, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at her nursing home in Independence, MO. She was born in Kansas City, MO on March 30, 1948. She graduated from Raytown High School in 1966 and began fulfilling what she always felt was her purpose in life, taking care of kids, through babysitting and eventually foster care where she gave numerous babies and toddlers a loving and secure start to their lives. She also worked in food service for over 35 years, always providing a cheerful smile to customers. She was selfless, encouraging, level-headed and very feisty when the mood struck. She never had a problem speaking her mind but always found a way to shine an optimistic light on any situation.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Tricia (Ben) Smith; two grandsons Spencer and Trent Melton; step-granddaughter Kylie (Drew) Headley and their twins Magnolia and Delilah. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Anna Jean Schaffer.
The family would sincerely like to thank Jay Hernandez for his unwavering dedication, support and deep love for Beverly. Her life was immensely enriched having him by her side not only during the best of days but also through the most challenging and difficult months leading to her final resting place.
