Brian Jay Fieth was born on January 6th, 1979, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1998 and worked in the automotive industry.
From his earliest years, Brian was an avid outdoorsman. He spent childhood summers at the Lake of the Ozark’s Linga Longa resort where he fell head over tails for fishing. Brian traveled across states and countries to fish with family and friends. He was also an accomplished hunter, known particularly for his skill with a bow in deer season.
Brian was a self proclaimed country boy. He loved the rodeo and his belt buckles grew bigger each season. But more than the pageantry of a life down home, Brian loved the kinship he found in the country. He knew what it was to be a part of a good community- to not judge, to welcome, and to help your neighbor. Brian certainly never suffered fools, but he navigated life with immense loyalty and generosity for those he loved. Brian was the person you called to mend your car or your heart.
Brian valued his time with family, especially when he could marry his passion for the outdoors with his loyalty for his loved ones. Brian prized time in Canada with his father and time on his Aunt Patty’s farm. He found purpose in nature, and also a bit of mischief. If pressed about the time horse riding went awry with a baby cousin or a hunting misstep, Brian was likely to reply only with a trademark quirk of his eyebrow, already planning the next outing.
Brian and his mother, Debbie, were devotedly close. Brian was always a good sport and cheerleader for his mother’s quilting and rug hooking projects and she was always a good sport about the latest deer head he brought to decorate the home.
Testament to a golden character, Brian loved animals and animals loved him back. He raised and treasured many dogs throughout his life. He also inherited his beloved Pa’s affection for horses. Pa taught Brian both the joys and responsibilities of riding and entrusted him with the care of the family horses.
As Brian’s illness progressed, his community gathered around him and returned all the loyalty he had given them. He is loved in life and death by his mother, Debra Brattin Fieth, his father, John Fieth (Kathey Fieth), step siblings Ashley Wood and Alex Everhart, niece Emery, nephew Jackson, grandmother Martha Fouquet, many uncles, aunts, and cousins from the Brattin, Clark, and Houston families, his best friend Randy Whyde, his two dogs, Charlie and Barrett, and his horse, Champ.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Nova Brattin (“Granny and Pa”), Jack and Norma Fieth, and uncle Darrell Brattin.
