Bryan David Tanis, 54, Liberty, MO died unexpectedly June 27, 2025 at Liberty Hospital.
He was born on September 11, 1970, in Frankfurt, Germany, while his father was stationed at Rhein-Main Air Force Base. Bryan was later adopted by Ira and Jacquline (Davis) Tanis.
Growing up in Midlothian, Illinois, Bryan shared many fun and memorable adventures with his best friend, Mark Zamiar, creating a bond that would last throughout his life. He graduated from Bremen High School in 1989.
On April 29, 2000 Bryan married the love of his life Cynthia “Cyndi” Smith at her mother’s home where her Uncle Justice of the Peace Dupa Furan conducted the ceremony.
Bryan dedicated a significant portion of his career to General Motors, initially working at the Janesville, WI plant from 2002 until its closure in 2009. Following the plant's shutdown, he transferred to the General Motors Plant in Kansas City, KS, and established his home in Liberty, MO, with his wife, Cyndi. Bryan was a proud member of the General Motors UAW.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved canine companions, Maggie and Holly.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cyndi Tanis, of the home; his daughter, Megan (Tanis) Cowan, and her husband, Nicholas, of Dickinson, Texas; and his grandchildren, Adrian, Lily, Rose, and Sterling. He is also survived by his sister, Lyn (Tanis) Carlson, of Bloomington, Illinois; his lifelong best friend, Mark Zamiar, of Midlothian, Illinois; his mother-in-law, Susan (Smith) Tracy (Jim Newcomb) of Newville, Wisconsin; his father-in-law, George Smith, Sr. (Ann) of Janesville, Wisconsin; his sister-in-law, Christine Smith of Janesville, Wisconsin; his brother-in-law, George Smith, Jr. of Edgerton, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished pet, Zoey.
In accordance with Bryan's wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no services at this time. Bryan will find peace resting peacefully alongside his beloved canine companions, Maggie and Holly
