Carey H. Weinel, Jr., 75, of Lees Summit, Missouri, passed away February 5, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Colorado Springs, CO to the late Carey and Kathleen Weinel, Sr. A devoted husband, father, papa, great-papa, brother and uncle. Carey lived a life defined by hard work, laughter, and love for those around him.
Carey grew up as an Army brat alongside his sister, Linda Hedberg, moving frequently and living in many places, including Germany. He graduated from Raytown South High School in 1970 and attended Longview College, studying auto repair.
On July 15, 1972, Carey married Sherry Kleeschulte. Together they shared 53 years of marriage and built a family. He was a proud father to two daughters, Lorie Norris and husband Craig and Dayna Anderson and husband Mike, and a beloved Papa to Brittany Harris and husband Brett, Tony Anderson, Jessica Hieber and husband Matt, Jamie Goodwin and husband Noah, Tyler Anderson, and Conner Anderson. He was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Blair.
Carey began his career as a mechanic at Western Auto and later worked at several dealerships before becoming Service Manager at Raytown Dodge, where he spent many dedicated years. He shared his knowledge by teaching automotive technology at ITT Technical Institute, eventually serving as Chief Instructor. Later, he fulfilled a dream by opening his own shop, Always AutoWorks, where he worked until retirement. Carey could fix anything — often “MacGyvering” creative solutions.
Beyond his work, Carey knew how to truly live. He loved the lake, fishing, water skiing, camping, and spending time outdoors — especially exploring the “back 40.” He was happiest with drumsticks in his hands, racing his corvette, listening to music or being outside with family nearby.
Carey adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending countless hours giving golf cart rides, picking up sticks with the “littles" and mowing on his tractor. He had his own special way of organizing things — “Carey style” — and always kept busy caring for home and family.
Carey will be remembered for his generous heart, quick humor, mechanical genius, strong work ethic, the best hugs and love for his family. He will be truly missed.
