Carlos Dewitt Nix was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 5, 1939. He departed this life December 11, 2023. His parents Robert E. Nix and Leontine Blakely, brothers Omar Nix Sr, Robert L. Nix and daughter Sherry Renee Davis preceded him in death.

Carlos graduated from Central High School of Kansas City, Mo in 1958. Carlos had the desire for continued education and took several undergraduate classes. As a young man he was a jack of several trades; he was a bouncer before he could legally buy liquor. And because of his masculine physique his age was not questioned.

Carlos worked as a mail sorter and mail carrier with the US Post Office for a few years. Then employment with The Kansas City Police department where he retired as a Sergeant with the Drug enforcement Unit in 1997 after twenty-eight years of service. During those twenty-eight years he worked patrol, was a bodyguard for Vanessa Williams, and taught a few classes at Central High School.

Carlos was an outgoing person, willing to give a helping hand to anyone, giving his last dollar or the shirt off his back if he could. He truly had a soft spot for children. However, make no mistake you were either a friend or an outsider and you wanted to be labeled a friend. And he had many. Carlos went on the road with the singing group The Bloodstones and a time or two sang with them.

As a young child he became blind regaining his sight after the family minister prayed over him. His doctors later asked his mother what year he passed; she quickly gave Carlos the phone to talk with the doctor.

Carlos’s life has always been filled with spirituality and love for God and Church. He studied Catholicism as a Christian prior to meeting his wife, Paula. later he was baptized at St. Monica Catholic Church.

He was a faithful member. He was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Counsel 57.

Carlos leaves his best friend and loving wife Paula Naomi Hill-Nix; his children: Darrin Nix of Denton, Tx, Jamie Nix (Leslee Nicole) Gloria Nix, Jamilah Nix, His stepchildren: Carl Fred Hill III (Taneeka), Camille Yvette Austin(Deon) Cherhea Meteika Frazier (Steven), Anson Wallace(Tracy) and Carla McDaniel all of Kansas City, Mo.; Grand children, Great Grands, a host of nieces and nephews relatives and friends.
