Kay Lemons, age 76, passed peacefully on April 28th, 2025 with her family by her side. Kay was born in Joplin, MO to Elmer and Pauline Fawver. She graduated from Central High School in Springfield, MO in 1966. In June of 1969 she married the love of her life, Walt Lemons. She followed Walt on his Army adventures over to Korea working in the American school on the base camp.
Upon arriving back in the United States, Walt and Kay started a family. They had three children Brad, Craig and Tiffany. She was a full time stay at home mom ensuring the kids were well fed, driven to all the sports and well loved. Later, she worked as needed at the courthouse in Ozark, MO as a Circuit Court clerk for several years.
Kay and Walt traveled frequently and were so thankful to travel to 29 countries with Italy and New Zealand being top favorites. She also loved cruises, especially to Alaska. Kay was probably best known for her baking skills and always had the most delicious desserts. She was very active in the neighborhood HOA organizing social events for the neighborhood. She looked forward to book clubs (even when she didn’t read the book) and playing Mahjong weekly with her friends. She was an avid collector of snowmen and loved setting them out every Christmas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her children, son Brad (wife Shelly, grandkids Marcus and Elliott) of Belleville, IL, son Craig (grandkids Austin and Sophia) of Kansas City, daughter Tiffany (husband Jeff, grandkids Grady and Kiley) of Kansas City, as well as her sister Loretta and brother Steve.
