Cathleen Evelyn Lees, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born on September 17, 1954, Cathleen’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to family, service, and tradition.

Throughout her years, Cathy worked diligently for Jackson County Public Works, contributing to the betterment of her community with dedication and pride. Beyond her career, she found profound joy and purpose in her role as a foster care mom, opening her heart and home to children in need, embodying compassion in its truest form.

Family was the cornerstone of Cathy’s life. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, whether it was hosting the family barbecue or attending grandparent days with her grandchildren, where they crafted gingerbread houses together, creating sweet memories that would last a lifetime. The tradition of family reunions held a special place in her heart, where laughter, stories, and bonds were shared and strengthened. Traveling in her RV was one of her beloved pastimes, a symbol of her adventurous spirit and love for experiencing life’s journey surrounded by those she adored.

Raised in the Catholic faith and baptized at the First Baptist Church, Cathy's spiritual foundation was an important part of her identity, guiding her values and enriching her sense of community.

One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as a Girl Scout leader, a role in which she inspired young minds, nurtured growth, and instilled a deep appreciation for kindness and leadership.

Cathleen Evelyn Lees leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering support for her family and the many lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain a beacon of warmth and inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents: Richard E. Six and Nyline E. Schwerdtfeger; her sister: Marjorie Six; and her brother in law: Keith Purdy.

She is survived by her husband: Jack B. Lees; her children: Holly (Aaron) Lyon, Jenny (Sean) Culbertson, and Chelsey (Kevin) Kirkpatrick; her sisters: Joan Purdy and Kimberly Tatom; her brother: John Six; as well as her grandchildren, family, and friends.
