Charles Matthew Hauber, 41, North Kansas City, MO, passed away on March 16, 2026. Matthew was born on October 12, 1984 to Charles and Nancy Hauber. He faced his many challenges with determination and personal connections with those he loved.
Matt’s journey included participation in Special Olympics earning many awards, medals, ribbons and trophies. Matthew was often found outdoors, walking and visiting with neighbors, mowing lawns, fishing and boating. He was always ready to volunteer within the community. His caring nature and readiness to offer a helping hand was an important part of his existence.
A highlight of his daily routine was visiting Quik Trip NKC. Matthew looked forward to walking the neighborhood route with his longtime friend and mailman Ted. He loved to visit NKC Municipal Services and other departments of the City. He valued his friendship with the NKC Police Officers who would frequently stop to interact with him.
Matt attended the NKC School District graduating from North Kansas City High in 2004. For 14 years, he was employed by Vocational Services, Inc. in NKC where he made many lifelong friends. He engaged in fun community activities for five years with Easter Seals Midwest’s day program. Matthew attended the former NKC campus of Vineyard church where he found acceptance, friendship, unconditional love and the joy of belonging.
Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Dolores Hoffecker, paternal grandparents, Charles and Arleta Hauber and Uncle Richard Hoffecker (Ruth). He is survived by his parents, Charles “Charlie” and Nancy Hauber, Uncle David (Cindy) Hoffecker, many cousins, friends and loved ones.
Though Matthew is no longer with us, the memories of his kindness and incredible spirit, along with his happiness in life with the simple things, and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him, will remain eternally cherished. His journey may have come to a close, but the impact of his presence will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Will be held on June 28 from 2-4 PM at NKC Parks and Recreation Center, 1201 Clark Ferguson Drive, North Kanas City, MO.
