Charlotte Marie Kallal

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Charlotte Marie (Nolte) Kallal, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. While we grieve her loss deeply, we are also filled with such gratitude for the life she lived full of warmth, kindness, and love.

Born in Normal, IL to Robert and Virginia (Herzler) Nolte, Charlotte and her older sister Ruth spent their childhood in St. Louis, MO. Her father a United Church of Christ minister, Charlotte grew up in the church and held a strong faith throughout her life, becoming a member of the United Methodist Church when her and her husband moved their family to Liberty in 1985.

Charlotte was a devoted wife to Charles and mother to Caroline, Emily, and Michael. She found joy in trying new recipes and loved sharing meals with all who visited. Walking into Charlotte’s kitchen was like walking into one big hug of food and love.

Her greatest joy, though, was becoming “Grandma” to her five grandchildren. Nothing made her smile more than having them all at her home, celebrating family birthdays and the holidays while enjoying her home cooked meals and baked goods.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Virginia, and is survived by her husband Charles; her children Caroline Ward (Steve), Emily Troupe (Jason), and Michael (Sarah); her grandchildren (Elyse, Oliver, and Hazel Kallal and Merrick and Sawyer Troupe), and her sister Ruth Davis (Jay). We will all remember her in the little things - the smell of her homemade biscotti, the sound of her laughter, and the comfort of her hugs.

Services will be held at Parklawn Funeral Home Northland Chapel on Thursday, November 6th at 11 in the morning. A visitation will take place one hour before. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Luke’s Hospice.
