Cheryl Capell, a woman of boundless love and a truly free spirit, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Pinnacle Point Wellness in Riverside, Missouri, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 7, 1961, in Kansas City, MO to Homer and Margaret (Dobbins) Capell, Cheryl’s life was defined by the warmth she extended to others. Though she faced her own long-standing struggles with mental health, she poured her heart into being a homemaker, successfully raising two strong, independent daughters. She was a woman who never met a stranger, opening her home and her heart to anyone in need.
Cheryl found joy in the simple, beautiful things. She loved playing dress-up with her children and grandchildren, and she was known for her creative soul—hand-crafting jewelry and sock dolls to give away as tokens of her affection. Her home was often filled with the loud, joyful sounds of Elvis Presley, a soundtrack to a life lived with fierce devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Margaret, and her brothers, Vince and Michael. She is survived by her daughters, Jonnie Henderson (Tod) and Cassandra Chrisp; her siblings, Kristy, Cecile, Dennis, Renee, and Gregory; her fourteen grandchildren, Briana, Lisa, August, Elizabeth, Heidi, Jack, Giana, Mackenzie, Charity, Ruby, Faith (Holden), and Kaitlyn (Tyler); and her three great-grandchildren, Zola, Alani, and Aurora.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held 2:00pn Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel (1640 Route 291 Highway, Liberty, MO 64068).
After fighting a final, wearying battle with lung cancer, Cheryl has finally found rest. She was a beloved sister, mother, and friend who will be missed beyond measure.
We love you mom!!
