Cheryl Ann Novick, 70, passed away peacefully at North Care Hospice House on November 1, 2026. Born on January 14, 1956, in Tempe, Arizona, she was the beloved daughter of Donald and June Baxley.
Cheryl attended The University of Texas, Austin, Texas pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1988, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, eventually settled in Liberty, Missouri, and lived until her passing.
In 1995, Cheryl began a career with Double Check Company, LLC in Kansas City. Initially brought on to help navigate and integrate a major corporate merger, while focusing on Information Technology and Human Resources. Her natural leadership and versatility led her to serve as both the IT Manager and the HR Manager over her many years with the company until her recent retirement.
Outside of her professional life, Cheryl was a woman of many talents and passions. She had an extraordinary love for plants and achieved the prestigious status of Master Gardener. Her expertise was so well-regarded that she even hosted a local television show, sharing her wealth of botanical knowledge with the community. Cheryl also loved building things. If there were an achievement marker for Legos, she would be a Master Lego Designer and Builder, Cheryl would have been granted that title. She built amazing Lego villages for the different seasons with her favorite village being elaborate Christmas villages.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis R. Pyles and Raymond L. Wagner Jr. ; her brothers, Gregory, Kenneth, and Timothy; and her father, Donald Baxley.
