Clem Hollingsworth Ⅲ, age 81, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Hospital, on March 21, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clem Hollingsworth Ⅳ, and both parents, Clem and Vera Hollingsworth.
Afftctionately known as “Clem Junior”, he graduated 1960 from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Clem was an exceptional basketball player, and was awarded a full scholarship to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. During his years at Lane College, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. In 1964 Mr. Hollingsworth received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Chemistry.
As a retired entrepreneur, Mr. Hollingsworth’s professional career began in Corporate America. Upon retiring, he pursued a second career teaching chemistry and theoretical mathematics. Throughout his career as an educator, and for many years thereafter, he motivated young people to choose the sciences as a course of study. He was a highly sought after volunteer tutor of physics, chemistry, and math.
Blessed with the virtues of intelligence, wisdom compassion, and righteousness, Clem Hollingsworth Ⅲ will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Mr. Hollingsworth lived by the fundamental ethical principle from the precept of the gospel of Matthew 7:12 i.e. the “Golden Rule”, or “...do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” All who knew him will cherish his memory. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He is survived by his special friend Linda Swayzer of Kansas City, Kansas, one grandchild, Cle’era Hollingsworth of Los, Angeles, California, eight sisters: Paulette Hollingsworth Massey of Kansas City, Missouri, Yvonne Hollingsworth Stafford of Olathe, Kansas, Debra Hollingsworth Adams of Kansas City, Missouri, Gail Hollingsworth Clark (Artis) of Blue Springs, Missouri, Denise Hollingsworth Williams (Terry) of Vallejo, California, Kay Hollingsworth McKnack of Raytown, Missouri, Gina Hollingsworth Draffen (Curt) of Kansas City, Missouri, Tina Hollingsworth of Raytown, Missouri, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. A visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
