Curtis Eugene Hudnall, 77, of Lansing, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025. Curtis was born in Springfield, Illinois. He attended Westport High School. After graduating, Curtis enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. After four years in the Navy, Curtis enlisted in the Army Reserve, where he proudly served an additional 13 years, honorably giving his country a total of 17 years of service.

Following his military career, Curtis worked at Lansing Correctional Facility for 18 years while also holding a second job at Lab One. He later concluded his working years at Uniguard. Curtis was a member of the American Legion in Oak Grove, alongside his brother and best friend. He continued to honor his country by placing American flags on military gravesites every Memorial Day. Curtis deeply loved his country, his family, his dogs, going to the lake, football, and college basketball—especially March Madness. Curtis faced his long illness with a smile and a determined spirit. He reminded us daily that hope, love, and the will to never give up can outlast any diagnosis. Curtis was always up for a good fight.

Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Marie Pointer, and his brother, Ricky Lynn Hudnall. He is survived by his daughter, Lorie Gomez; his sons, Rodney Hudnall, Ryan Hudnall, and Curtis Hudnall; and June Hudnall, the mother of his children. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristian Perez, Dylan Perez, Adriana Annett, Tyler Hudnall, Gage Hudnall, Bella Hudnall, Rodney Hudnall, Reagan Hudnall, and Realeigh Hudnall, as well as his great-granddaughter, Georgia Perez. For the last 32 years, Curtis filled three generations with laughter, love, wonder, and the happiest of moments. Curtis was a true American hero to all who knew him and will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, beginning at 10am, with visitation beginning prior at 9am at Park Lawn Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
