David Andrew
Dorminey
March 23, 1976 – April 23, 2026
David Andrew Dorminey, age 50, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 23, 2026. David was born March 23, 1976 to Sharon Noffsinger and William Dorminey Jr. He grew up in Junction City, Kansas, and also spent time living in Germany, Colorado, Washington State, and Missouri—places he carried with him throughout his life.
David proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Private First Class. During his service, he was assigned to Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, and served as a Cannon Fire Directions Specialist. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Lapel Button, and earned Sharpshooter qualification with the M-16 rifle. His time in the Army was something he carried with pride.
Following his military service, David worked as a line cook and later retired. David then dedicated his time as a volunteer with Chow Hall Farms through the Veterans Community Project in Kansas City, where he was known for his selflessness, dedication, and uplifting presence.
Outside of volunteering, David spent his time listening to Jazz music, cooking, watching Nascar, and being an avid animal lover. He found peace and joy in helping others and took pride in being a veteran. More than anything, he was a proud Father and a loyal friend.
He is survived by his brother, Richard Dorminey and his wife Michelle. His son Johnathan Dorminey and his wife Alyssa. As well as many extended family members and friends that will all miss his dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon and William Dorminey.
A celebration is being planned in Kansas City, Missouri and a Graveside Service will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas at a later date.
