Obituary

David “Scott” Hadley, 71, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away on April 27, 2026. After over a two year battle with brain cancer. Born on July 11, 1954, to Paul and Rosemary Hadley, he was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. Graduating in 1972 from Winnetonka High School, Scott pursued his interests in cars from racing his 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle to building a career in the transportation industry as a short-haul driver and transportation supervisor. He retired in 2019 after 36 years with Kraft Foods, US Foods, and Alliance Foods.

The devoted father of three children, he cheered them through the years from the bleachers as they played sports growing up. Scott was known for being a good friend by being caring, honest and respectful. His interest in sports was reflected in his support for the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs, his participation in baseball teams, and, in retirement, golf.

Scott is survived by Cindy Hadley, his wife of 38 years, daughters Lauren Pence and Lindsey Bechthold (Amos), and son Lucas Hadley; grandchildren Enslee Pence, Parker Pence, Baron Bechthold, Brantley Bechthold and Sophia Bechthold; his brothers Richard, Gerald, and Michael Hadley. Scott will be deeply missed by friends, family and all that knew him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Park Lawn Northland Chapel (1640 Rt MO 291 Highway, Liberty, MO). Memorial services will commence at 6:00 p.m. following the visitation.

The family would like to thank KU Hospital staff, Interim Hospice team, Linden Woods Village staff and NKC Health Therapy team for their support and care.
