A celebration of David's life will be 12 noon, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center, 6751 NE 70th St., Kansas City, MO 64119. A luncheon will immediately follow the service to share stories.

Obituary

David Wayne Lienhard,69, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his devoted family.

Born in Kansas City on November 18, 1956, David was the cherished son of John Bernard and Mary (Wooddell) Lienhard.

David was defined by his strong work ethic and his heart for helping others. From his early days as a proud Cub Scout and Boy Scout, he carried a sense of duty into everything he did. Over his lifetime, David brought his dedication and reliability to many local organizations, including Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department, Fox Photo, Custom Sheet Metal, R.W. Harmon Transportation Company, Pella Custom Windows and Doors, Wells Fargo Security and Our Lady of Guadelupe Senior Center.

His careful nature earned him safe driving awards and a Certificate of Accomplishment from the Missouri Department of Social Services. David also brought his unique charm to the silver screen, proudly serving as an extra in the films Article 99 and A Burden of Proof.

David meet the love of his life  Novena Cruz Hernandez in kindergarten at Sacred Heart Elementary School. They were reacquainted in 1978 and were married June 20, 1981. 

In his youth, David enjoyed racing motorcycles and stock cars. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved bicycling through the streets of Kansas City, and always looked forward to relaxing with a good movie or music. A man of faith, David was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Mary, his brother Virgil Lee Lienhard.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Novena “Dolly” Lienhard, son David Lienhard, Jr., daughter Mary Lienhard-Parker and her husband Jonathan Parker II. His sister Connie Sue Lienhard, her children Tonya Sue Mulla, John Thomas Willis and Ronald Willis. David’s brother John Bernard Lienhard, Jr. and his wife Kay and their daughters Tracy and Michelle. One and his step-sister Marie Lawson

Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate David’s life 12 noon, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center, 6751 NE 70th St., Kansas City, MO 64119. A luncheon will immediately follow the service to share stories and comfort one another.
