David Simons

September 22, 1960 — June 26, 2023

Liberty, MO

David R. Simons, 62, of Liberty, passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2023, at Liberty Hospital.

David was born September 22, 1960, in Emporia, KS, the youngest of four children of Hobart Eugene and Lois Jeanette (Wilson) Simons. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Owens, and a nephew Hale Simons.

As a child he loved being outdoors, hunting snakes and spending time on Lake Kahola with family and friends. He was a barefoot water skier and eventually became a certified scuba diver, he also served on the Lee’s Summit Underwater Rescue team in the 90’s. He became a licensed ham radio operator at a young age and still enjoyed it to this day.

David graduated in 1978 from Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He graduated from Devry, then later earned his degree as a Registered Nurse in 1995.  He worked in the ER Department for 23 years at multiple hospitals building long lasting professional relationships with co-workers.  David was an admired RN with a love and passion for his career and was still working as a nurse until his passing.

David was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marlo Simons, on August 13, 2010. Together for 14 years, they enjoyed traveling, time on the water, motorcycle rides, local blues music in Kansas City and a avid photographer who loved photographing local bands and nature.

Along with his wife Marlo, David leaves two siblings, Sharon Simons, and Tony Simons; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and countless friends and coworkers.

While of a quiet nature, David was known for his sense of humor, pranks, and jokes, but most well-known for his uncanny ability to mimic just about any sound made by hospital equipment!
