Deanna Mae Kessler, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on December 8, 2025.
She was born on January 10, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, and lived in Blue Springs for the past 40 years. Deanna devoted her life to her family, her work, and serving others.
For over 45 years, Deanna worked at the family-owned business, Kansas City Artificial Limb, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. After the tragic loss of her youngest son, David Kessler, to a drunk driver, Deanna transformed her grief into purpose. She became deeply involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), serving as president for several years, and made impaired-driving awareness her life’s mission.
She also founded a nonprofit organization and participated in victim impact panels, courageously sharing her story to educate others and promote awareness of the devastating consequences of impaired driving.
Deanna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Wayne Kessler; her youngest son, David Kessler; her sisters, Virginia Johnson and Helen Cox; and her brother, Robert Schamback.
She is survived by her four children: Kenneth Kessler and spouse Linda; Dianna Ward and spouse Jerry; Robert Kessler and spouse Lynn; and James Kessler and spouse Patti; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Deanna will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and to making the world a safer place for others.
