Decatur “Dick” Clark Millard III, 87, died peacefully on May 8, 2026, Dick was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Decatur C. Millard, Jr. and Helen Saddler (Bixman) Millard. He graduated from Central High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country joining the United States Air Force.
Dick married Anita Kroenke in 1958. After returning from the Air Force, he began working for Bendix Corporation. Over the next decade he and Anita had six children.
Those who knew Dick remembered him as a loving and dedicated father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was generous, quick-witted and quietly took care of his family while always helping others in need.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Dick Jr. and Helen; his wife Anita, two daughters Leslea Costa and Shannon Turner, and granddaughter Britney Lauck.
He leaves behind 4 children Tracy Heegn, Kelly Lauderback (Craig), Decatur Millard IV, and Kevin Millard. Grandchildren Bryan Dean, Thomas Turner, Andrea Harrity, Cody Millard, Christopher Heegn, Vanessa Springer, Kristen, Smith, Shannon Paaske, Madison Feurborn. A sister Dale Anderson and brother Frank Millard. Numerous great-grandchildren and special cousins Ed Tenney, Sherry Bryant, Tom Fouts, Dixie Tenney and a multitude of friends.
A celebration of life gathering will be Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10 AM until 12:00 p.m. at Parklawn Funeral Home 8251 Hillcrest Road Kansas City Missouri. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Salvation Army in Dick's memory.
The family would like to thank the University Health ICU nurse Sarah for her care during Dick's illness. She was kind, compassionate and just as quick-witted as Dick, where he gained the nickname “trouble”. She brought joy to his final hours, and he always had a wink and a smile for her.
