Dolores Jean Terry, 89, of Independence, MO, passed peacefully on Friday June 12th 2026, at Aspire Nursing Care Center in Oak Grove, MO.  

Dolores was born on September 25th 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to William Clinton and Ada Lucas. Dolores went to school in Kansas City, MO and graduated college with a degree in Education. She taught Sunday School and worked as an administrator of group homes for the disabled and a realtor for many years. 

Dolores married her loving husband, Thomas Terry on January 1st 1992. They loved to travel the country taking pictures of old barns and hunting down information for their genealogy research. When she wasn’t toiling away in her flower garden, she loved to oil paint beautiful pictures and write on her murder mystery novel. Whenever possible, she loved to involve her children and grandchildren in all of her hobbies and celebrations. 

When she needed quiet time, she enjoyed watching Billy Graham, TBN and the Andy Griffith Show with her two Pomeranians, Foxy and Ginger. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dolores is survived by one brother Dewey Lucas of TX and one sister Patty Lucas of TX; two sons, Larry Hill (Martha) of Bates City, MO and Timothy Hill (Janet) of Independence, MO; two daughters, Sandy Guarino (Paul) of Independence, MO, and Connie Thomas of Blue Springs, MO; 15 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. 

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Terry, her parents William Clinton and Ada Lucas, one brother Sam Boyd, one sister Shirley Clinton, one great grandchild Elijah Early, and her two Pomeranians, Foxy and Ginger.
