It is with great sadness and rejoicing that we announce the passing of Donald John Moget,' who left us on a beautiful Sunday morning to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, October 19, 2025, at the age of 90. 

Donald was born on August 24, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa. A first generation born in the United States as his father came to New York City via Ellis Island. Donald’s heritage was The Netherlands and proud of his Dutch ancestry. He attended school at Fairview Public School in Fairview, IA, Nobleford Elementary in Alberta, Canada, and graduated from Doon Public School in Doon, IA. 

In 1955 Don attended basic training in California. In 1955 to 1957 Donald was stationed in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO where he was a cook and drove trucks. He entered the Army Reserve in Rolla, MO from 1957 to 1959, and then to the Army National Guard in Kansas City, MO from 1959 to 1962. He became a certified rifle expert and received the Good Conduct Medal. He attended OCS in Cole Camp and attained the rank of Lieutenant. 

Throughout his life, Donald held many jobs, including gas attendant, Greyhound bus ticket sales, and Central Airlines ticket agent in Ft. Leonard Wood. He also served as a restaurant manager for SMAK's and IHOP restaurants, worked as a car salesman for Cunningham Oldsmobile and O’Neal Oldsmobile for ten years, and spent several years as an over-the-road truck driver for numerous companies. He later worked as a dealer trade driver, showcasing his adaptability and dedication in each role. 

In 1957, Donald met the Love of His Life, Shirley Holiday in Waynesville, MO. Don and Shirley were married on June 22, 1958. Together they decided to start a family when his first daughter, Cheryl, was born in 1965. Cheryl Elaine was Don's sweet dancer who loved dresses and all girly things. Then came along his Tomboy. His second daughter, Diana Kay in 1971. Diana was his ornery and comedic girl who loved everything sports related. He constantly made the girls laugh and they could not have asked for a more loving, supportive, and funny Dad. Don and Shirley celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing. 

Donald is survived by wife, Shirley Moget', daughters, Cheryl Moget' and Diana (Moget') Owings (Steve), His grandchildren, Briana Ketelsen (Johnathon), and Trevor Wright. His great grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Harlow, and Presley. He cherished his grandchildren deeply and took great joy in spending time with them. Sister-In-Law's, Elizabeth (Betty) Moget and Colleen Holiday. Brother-In-Law, Darell Holiday. He was so proud of all of his nephews and nieces, Linda Bolkema (Harlyn), Gary Moget (Marlys), Rodney Moget (Jo), Darrell Moget, and Kim Dalton (Tom). Eleven Great Nephews and Nieces and eight Great Great Nephews and Nieces. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Marinus Moget in 1968 and his mother, Josie Moget in 1984. His brothers, Lester Moget in 2002, and Harold Moget in 1933. His grandchildren, Baby Wright in 1993, Baby Owings in 2013, and Baby Ketelsen in 2022. His brother-in-law, Duayne Holiday in 2020. 

Donald was passionate about cars. He loved attending car shows and collecting diecast metal cars. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs and the Royals. Donald will be remembered for his wonderful humor, hard working ethics, and loving heart. Don's faith was bright and never ending. He loved to share his faith and testimony of God's Word whether to family, friends, or complete strangers. Don enjoyed so much family time, vacations at the lake, numerous vacations in their winnebagos, and singing in quartets and church choirs. He had a beautiful bass voice and attended several gospel concerts. Donald loved meeting with his McDonald's friends, playing cards, and meeting with friends for lunch after Church. Don and Shirley were long time members of Red Bridge Baptist Church and South Kansas City Baptist Church, both in Kansas City, MO. 

Services are scheduled at Park Lawn Funeral Home for Saturday, October 25, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9am, followed by funeral services at 10am. 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138 Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery. 12700 Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149.
