Dorothy Prentice

September 22, 1938 — November 2, 2025

Mrs. Dorothy L. Prentice, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on November 2, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on September 22, 1938, and her presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Dorothy had a deep-rooted love for various passions that enriched her life. She found joy in the art of cooking, most famous for her fishfrys, and in crafting through ceramics, crocheting, floral arranging, embroidery, and quilting; skills she honed with dedication and creativity.

Her enthusiasm for family history, garage sales, and thrifting reflected her curiosity and appreciation for the past.

Dorothy's love for Christian country music resonated in her soul, uplifting those around her as well. A true nature enthusiast, Dorothy possessed a green thumb that showed through her large vegetable garden plentiful with tomatoes, bell peppers, green beans, and cucumbers. She enjoyed canning and making fresh salsa to give away for others to enjoy. Dorothy was also known for her gorgeous houseplants that flourished.

Skilled with a needle and thread, she was a talented seamstress who brought beauty to everything she touched. Her entrepreneurial spirit thrived through a miniature business she lovingly nurtured. Dorothy dedicated herself to her family, first as a devoted stay-at-home mom and later as a dedicated secretary at a prominent law firm. Her unwavering commitment to her loved ones was matched only by her love for her children and grandchildren.

A lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Liberty, MO, Dorothy's faith guided her through life's journey and shaped her into the loving and compassionate individual she was.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and faith that will endure through the memories of all who knew her.

Dorthy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill D Prentice; her parents: Roy and Iva McEntire; sister: Edith (Roy) Prentice, brothers: Everett McEntire and Coromon McEntire, sister: Debbie (Anthony) Williams; and her son:

Michael D. Prentice, and son in law: David Randall Newton.

She is survived by her daughter: Kathy Newton; her grandchildren: Christina (Michael) Scholdberg, Jason (Briana) Newton, and William Prentice; great grandchildren: Blake, Jadin, Aydin, Abigail, Ethan, Morgan, David; and her loving niece: Pamela Wynn.
