Dr. Jack Edmisten, age 90, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his home after battling a multitude of illnesses.
Dr. Edmisten was born on May 15, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri. He spent most of his childhood in Huntsville, Arkansas. He joined the United States Air Force in February of 1952. After discharge from the service, he graduated from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock with a Doctorate of Medicine specializing in Psychiatry.
Dr. Edmisten worked in Fayetteville, Arkansas in Private Practice and eventually moved to the Kansas City area. In Kansas City, he worked at various agencies, Swope Parkway Health Services, Samuel Rodgers Health, Comprehensive Mental Health and Western Missouri Mental Health. He had a private practice for a brief time and ended his career doing locum tenets.
He was preceded in death by his mother Anna Mazon Edmisten, his father Dee Edmisten, and his brothers Robert, Richard, John and Jimmy Lee Edmisten.
Survivors include his wife Juanita Edmisten of the home; son Steve Edmisten and his wife Dorinda of Clarksville, Arkansas; daughter Julie Turner and her husband Tim of Vancouver, Washington; daughter Rosalynn Edmisten of Nevada, Missouri; daughter Karalea Edmisten of Nevada, Missouri; granddaughter Ali Kalebe of Nevada, Missouri; sister Patsy Donnohue and her husband Jim of Huntsville, Arkansas; brother Jerry “Slick” Edmisten; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Private services and eventual private interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission and/or Harvesters Community Food Bank.
A Celebration of Life will be announced as a later date.
