William Robert “Bill” Dye

Bill was born December 9, 1946 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Edward Franklin and Vera Lucille (Kochert) Dye, Jr. He died March 1, 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri at age 75.

Bill graduated from Widefield High School in Security, Colorado in 1964. He entered the Air Force on July 2, 1964, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on July 1, 1968. He again entered the Air Force on July 26, 1971, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on July 25, 1975. He served in the Arizona Air National Guard from 1975 – 1978. During this time, he also earned an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming and Analysis from Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona with a 4.0 GPA. He served in the Colorado Air National Guard 1978-1988. Bill served a total of 20 years and retired in 2006. He worked as a computer programmer analyst from 1978-1992. During that time, he worked at Playboy, Denver Public Schools, Midland Savings and Loan, and Ideal Basic in Denver and in Kansas City metro area he worked at PARS Services and Sprint. Finally, Bill changed careers again and built homes from 1992-2000 as Bill Dye Construction.

In ‘retirement’ he worked at flipping and remodeling homes. His hobby was collecting and restoring classic autos.

He wed Marcia Vaughn December 26, 1967 in Topeka, Kansas while stationed at Forbes AFB. They recently had their 54th wedding anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant nephews, and brother-in-law.

Survivors include wife Marcia, sister Linda Vernon, nephew Robert Rosenbaum, niece Beth Rosenbaum, and grandniece Ciera Duvall.

He will be cremated in the care of Park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty, Missouri and placed at Leavenworth National Cemetery. As Bill desired, there will be no services.
