Etta L. Ridgeway

Etta Ridgeway, 87, died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 7, 2025 .

Etta was born on August 9th 1938 in Sedalia, MO to Clarence and Lena Reed. She graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1955. Etta married her high school sweetheart Lyman Ridgeway in 1956.

In 1962, they adopted their first child, Stephan and in 1968 they adopted their daughter Vonda. Her children remember her as a kind, caring and nurturing mother. Etta was a teacher at Salvation Army Daycare, she was an individual who adored and loved caring for children. Etta enjoyed travelling and camping with her family.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Helen Marie Reed, Lu Deane (Reed) Young and her brother Jack Reed. Etta is also preceded in death by her daughter Vonda (Ridgeway) Kerns April 4, 2025. 

Survived by her husband Lyman Ridgeway, son Steve Ridgeway, son in law Don Kerns and four grandchildren. Julia Spence, Jenna Spence, Breinn (Ridgeway) Lawson, her husband Marvin Lawson and their children Haisley Lawson and Maven Lawson, as well as her grandson Brody Ridgeway, his wife Morgan (Soper) Ridgeway and their soon to be baby Elaine. Etta had adopted grandchildren Cory Paul, wife Ashley (Stickney) Paul and their children Sofia Paul and Adelynn Paul.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday June 17th at 5-6pm with funeral services following at 6PM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel 1640 N. State Route 291 Liberty, MO 64068. Burial will be at La Monte Cemetery in La Monte, MO on Wednesday June 18th at 1PM. All are welcome to attend.
