Evelyn Gayle Amos, 72, of Liberty, Missouri, passed peacefully away on September 9, 2025, at North Care Hospice House.
Born on September 30, 1952, in Marceline, Missouri, to Robert “Bobby” and Shirley Jean Terrell Dorrell, Evelyn grew up in Liberty and was a proud 1970 graduate of Liberty High School. On September 2, 1972, she married Larry E. Amos, and they made their home together in Liberty for 53 years.
Evelyn found great joy in nurturing her beautiful flower beds. Her cooking brought comfort and happiness to her family, and she was renowned for her amazing family dinners. Her grandchildren especially cherished her special peanut butter fudge. Evelyn also had a deep love for music, with favorite artists including Elvis, Alan Jackson, and Travis Trent. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was playing bingo or poker.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bobby" Dorrell. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Amos; her daughter, Susan Amos; her son, Larry Amos, Jr. (Jennifer); and her grandchildren, J.D., Justin, and Morgan Amos. She also leaves behind her mother, Shirley Jean Dorrell; her sister, Marilyn Bell; her brother, Robert Dorrell (Jane); her nephew, Travis Dorrell (Gabby); her great-niece, Myla; and her great-nephew, Dre.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 Route 291 Highway, Liberty, MO 64068. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, MO.
