Frances McLaughlin, 95, was born in Miami County, Kansas on October 17, 1930, to Kenneth and Fannie Trewett. Both parents, husband John Louis Mclaughlin, brother Kenneth Trewett, and sister Dorothy Willhoitte, all preceded her in death.

Frances married the Love of her life, John Louis Mclaughlin on May 7, 1950. The couple shared 69 years of marriage together before his passing in July of 2019.

Frances grew up on their family farm south of Louisburg, Kansas. John and Frances lived in an apartment on main street of Drexel, MO after they were married, eventually moving to Kansas City North, and then to Western Hills in south Kansas City. After 27 years in Western Hills, they moved to Cass County, MO and lived there for many years. She eventually lived in Carnegie Village in Belton, MO.

Frances worked for the police department, Forrest T. Jones insurance agency, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and then with the Black and Veatch Engineering Firm as a Word Document Processor.

In her leisure time, and weather permitting, you could find her outdoors in her flower gardens and watching hummingbirds. She loved to garden and she loved hummingbirds.

Frances always supported her husband, John, and could often be found at the Lake of the Ozarks with him or at many of the Ararat Shrine parades and other functions. She helped out at the Bass Fishing Tournament every Spring and coordinated the annual school circus show every Fall.

Frances departed this life on August 24, 2026.at the Madison Senior Living nursing home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by son John McLaughlin, daughter Kristie Shrauger, sister Evelyn Burton, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Visitation – 11:00 AM and Funeral Services – 12:00 PM, will be held at the Park Lawn Funeral Home located at 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City MO.

Interment – 2:00 PM will be at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO
