Freda Hicks

Freda J. Hicks (Furness), 98, died peacefully on October 25, 2025. Freda was born April 16, 1927, in Independence, Missouri to Frederick and Janie (Patrick) Furness. She married the love of her life, a fireman named Elmer Clayton Hicks in 1942 and they had four children, Ronald, Donna, Kenneth, and Connie. 

Freda worked for Hallmark for 10 years before working as a realtor and owning her own real estate business. She excelled at being a realtor and enjoyed many years participating in everything the Kansas City Fire Department did. Freda was loving and dedicated to helping people; she was active at Country Meadows Baptist Church. 

Freda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, sister Grace, son Kenneth, and daughter Donna.

She is survived by her son Ronald (Sylvia), daughter Connie, sister Juanita, 5 grandchildren Paulette (Mark) Matthews, Darryl (Kris) Hicks, Lindsey (Dave) Cross, Kayla Hicks, Tony (Susan0 Pritchett, and 12 great grandchildren. 

Services will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home on Monday November 10, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 and services will begin at 2:00.
