In loving memory,
George David Whitington was born on Thanksgiving day, November 24, 1932 in Warrensburg, MO to Frank Edward Whitington and Bonnie Lockhard Whitington.
During his early school years, he achieved First Class Rank by the Boy Scouts of America in 1946. He graduated Central High School, KCMO in 1951. He pursued his Business Administration degree at Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. He is an alumni of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. His mother, Bonnie went back to college for her teaching degree and they both graduated in 1954.
David worked several odd job during college, including fueling planes at Eddie Fisher Flying Service, a clerk at USPS, a carpenter helper, a lifeguard and a shoe salesman.
He married the love of his life, Jean Marie Stafford on October 8, 1954 in Kansas City, MO.
He started as a Manager at Thom McAnn shoe store, then changed careers, obtaining his Insurance License and started with American Family, then in 1972 Farmers offered him Regional Manager position in Tulsa, OK. His wife, Jean did not want to move, but she packed up their four children and went. She cried all the way to the Oklahoma border! David decided to start his own independent insurance business so he moved the family back to Kanas City just eighteen months later. He semi-retired and took at position at the Missouri State Department at the age of 55 and retired from there at age 70.
He and Jean purchased what grew into their forever home on Blue Ridge Blvd. in 1973. A true DIYer, David did the majority of the remodeling himself. Their welcoming home hosted every birthday, holiday and so many gatherings, big and small for their family and friends. David's desire to take care of and make Jean happy was his top priority, from shopping 'the sales' to building her garden to making fishing a together hobby. They spent many hours on the boat, just the two of them and dad took took a couple of 'big' fishing trips with the guys. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs and Royals along with a cold brew.
