Gloria Pearl Ortiz Ramirez was born on May 31 in Kansas City, MO. She grew up in Kansas City’s Westside Neighborhood, attending West Junior and High school. She worked at a local credit union and helped to start their woman’s softball team. She married her husband Francisco, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church in KC, where the family went to church. She worked for numerous local hospitals, working her way up from entry level positions to a medical billing manager until her retirement. Her work ethic and leadership was inspirational. After retirement, she did grandma daycare and helped to raise her grandkids. Gloria was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt.
Gloria loved to read, crochet, go shopping, do small art projects and cook traditional Mexican dishes and experiment with new ones. She was an educator at heart, often reading to her kids, and later grandchildren, introducing the importance of music, culture and playing countless board and video games, visiting local KC attractions and traveling with her kids. She always had a kind word to say about everyone, and they in return, always had kind things to say about her. If the moment was right, you might have caught a moment of her amazing humor and goofiness…leaving you with the best, full belly laughs ever.
Gloria is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita, sister Becky and brother Robert. She is survived by her husband, Francisco, son Joseph (Latisha), daughter Sandra (David) and son Jeffery; her six grandchildren: Audriana, Jaxson, Eleanora, Davey, Gabriella and Ayce; her brother Richard and her sisters, Irene, Melody and Dolores.
Gloria was sick for many years and fought a brave fight against cancer, showing her strength and courage, before finally finding rest on January 20.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the PanCan Purple Stride Fundraiser for Pancreatic Research in Gloria’s name or Team Name: Abuelas Pearls http://support.pancan.org/goto/Abuelas_Pearls
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2 PM at Park Lawn Funeral Home 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Kansas City, MO 64138. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
