Gordon Brian Hubbs passed away at the age of 76 on January 25th, 2026 in his home in Liberty, Missouri surrounded by family. Gordon was born on December 23, 1949 in Marengo Illinois.
As a child he loved to sled on his toboggin in the winters, explore the outdoors, and go fishing with his brothers in the summers. He loved playing baseball, football, and went on to play center and kicker for high school football team. He attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin and graduated with a degree in business.
He was married to Roxanne Klein from 1972 – 1986, they had three children together while living in Marengo. In 1988 he married Elizabeth Hubbs in Woodstock Illinois, then moved to Columbus, Ohio, and eventually Liberty Missouri in 1991 and had two children. He spent his career in the sales, distribution, and design of hydraulic machines and systems across Missouri and Kansas. He retired in 2020 and lived out his life comfortably with his wife Elizabeth in their home in Liberty with their two dogs and cat.
Gordon was a wonderful father, friend, and spouse. He was a diligent worker, an outdoorsman, a natural story teller, and a lover of Chicago and Kansas City sports. He was passionate about astronomy and taught each of his children the constellations.
Gordon is survived by his wife Elizabeth Hubbs, his daughter Jacquelin Hubbs McHugh,(Kevin) their daughters Lily McHugh and Rose McHugh; daughter Kristine Stemmley, (Doug), and their sons Carter Stemmley and Ben Stemmley; daughter Michelle Lewis,(Robert), and their children Trent Lewis (Emily), and their daughter Rebekah Lewis; daughter Katelin Hubbs; son Alex Hubbs(Kailee) and their children Quentin Hubbs and Charlee Hubbs; and Gordon's brother Lawrence Hubbs.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday January 31st at 2pm at Park Lawn Northland Chapel,1640 N State Rte 291, Liberty, MO 64068. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the family or The Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
