Helen Horan, born Helen Mueller on April 5, 1931, peacefully passed away on June 7, 2026, at Seasons Healthcare in Kansas City, Missouri. At 95 years of age, Helen’s life was a testament to quiet strength, dedicated service, and heartfelt devotion to family and community.

Helen’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Emil and Louise Abend. She completed her 12th grade education and later embraced her role as a housekeeper with diligence and care—an occupation she carried out with earnest commitment throughout her life. Her passion for sewing and quilting reflected her creative spirit and gentle nature, turning fabric and thread into tangible expressions of love and warmth for those around her.

Her life was lovingly intertwined with her family. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Horan, Sr., and their son James Horan, Jr. Her siblings—Charles Abend and Cecilia Reardon—also left enduring memories that shaped her early years. Beyond her immediate family, Helen was a treasured matriarch to 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whose lives she touched deeply.

Surviving Helen is her daughter, Debi Swisher, who carries forward her mother’s legacy of kindness and resilience, and her sons, Jeffry Horan, Sr. and  John Horan  who remain pillars of strength and support to the family. Their presence ensures that Helen’s spirit and values continue to inspire future generations.

Helen was a devoted member of St. John Francis Regis Parish in Kansas City, where her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. It provided comfort and community through all seasons of her life, anchoring her in hope and grace.

Family and friends are invited to honor Helen at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, located at 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138. Visitation will be held on June 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for loved ones to share memories and pay respects. The funeral service will follow on June 16, 2026. The rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral mass following at St. John Francis Regis Parish at 8941 James A Reed Road, Kansas City, MO 64138.
