Helen Mae (Tucker) Koberowski

May 12, 1943 – September 30, 2025

Helen Mae (Tucker) Koberowski, 82, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Helen was born on May 12, 1943, in Eldon, Missouri, to Clay and Emma (Thompson) Tucker. The youngest of ten children, she graduated from Tuscumbia High School in Tuscumbia, Missouri, where she was active in many school organizations. Helen served as a class officer, student council member, newspaper staff writer, dramatics participant, librarian, and FHA member. She also excelled in athletics, playing basketball and softball, cheerleading, and serving as a Prep Club member. A highlight of her senior year was being selected Maid of Honor for the Homecoming Queen Court. During that time, she formed lifelong friendships with Rose (Kratzer) Flora and Nancy (Slone) Kays.

After moving to Kansas City with Rose and Nancy, she lived with her sister Mary, then she met the love of her life, Gary Koberowski. They were married on September 11, 1964, in Kansas City, Kansas, and shared 52 wonderful years together before Gary’s passing in 2017. They were blessed with two children, Craig Koberowski and Ronda (Koberowski) Giarraputo, whom they lovingly raised in Independence, Missouri.

Helen and Gary enjoyed camping, traveling across the country, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved playing cards with loved ones and dominoes with her grandchildren. Helen cherished outings to the boat, family dinners, and special mother-daughter shopping trips to the Jones Store at Blue Ridge Mall— always followed by dinner at Red Lobster, where she ordered her favorite fried shrimp and baked potato.

She retired from Wilcox Electric after 30 years of dedicated service. A devoted Christian, Helen was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and held her faith and her family close to her heart.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary; her parents, Clay and Emma Tucker; and seven brothers: Henry Tucker, Tom Tucker, Dan Tucker, Gene Tucker, Bob Tucker, Paul Tucker, and Dale Tucker.

She is survived by her children, Ronda (Steve) Giarraputo and Craig Koberowski; four grandchildren, Kayle (Jacob) Koberowski-Rodriguez, Gianna Giarraputo, Chloe Koberowski, and Cole Koberowski; her brother, Hershel (Darlene) Tucker; her sister, Mary Hendley; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Helen will be remembered for her love of family, generosity, kindness, and unwavering faith.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Glenridge Cemetery, B Highway and Shepherd Road, Liberty, MO 64068
