Howard Wayne Striplin Sr.

August 27, 1960 — June 3, 2024

Kansas City

Howard W. Striplin Sr. went to his heavenly home on June 3rd, 2024, to reunite with his loved ones who went before him. This includes his wife Becky and their dog Maggie May, Grandma, four brothers; Louis, Tommy, Dennis, Henry, and many others who have been patiently waiting for his arrival. Those he loves, but have to stay behind until he welcomes them home are his Mom - Caryoln Allen; Children - Sonya (Lee) Van Horne and Skip (Jessica) Striplin; Sister – Becky Allen; Two Brothers - Chris (Lisa) Allen and Randy Allen; 8 Grandchildren; Haylee, Lee Alan, Christyan, Austin, Elaine, Alyssa, Lilly and Justin; Great-Grandson Ayden; five Nieces – Denise, Angel, Cherish, Grace, and Cameron; and two Nephews – Benny and Zach.

Howie was born on August 27th, 1960. He was the second born and unfortunately was the one who had to stay inside a lot growing up because of epilepsy. His grandma loved having him inside as she took the chance to pass down her amazing cooking skills to one of her grandchildren. During his time growing up he not only became an amazing cook, he also learned to paint and crochet as well as learning mechanic work from his many uncles.

In 1979, Howie’s life changed when he decided to work for a manufacturing company that makes lawnmower blades. He quickly moved up and became a tool and die maker which is right up his alley, seeing how he was amazing with numbers and math. He was even one of the main contributors on creating the “gator blade”. He retired from this life career after 43 years.

Three months after starting this job his bouncing baby girl, Sonya, was born. Two years later, his bouncing baby boy, Howard Jr aka Skip, followed and from there it was just the three of them trying to navigate the world. However, his life changed again in 1996 when he married the love of his life, Becky. From that moment on, Howie knew his life was complete because he had his three loves – his wife and kids. Howie’s life and love continued to change and grow as his two children grew up, married and had children of their own.

Howie was an avid fisherman and gardener. You could always find him on his days off at the river or with his vegetable/flower beds. He also loved Nascar, comedy shows and more importantly spending time with his family. He also was a very huge KC Chiefs fan and will now have the best seat in the house, as he watches them win number three this coming year.

Services will be held at Park Lawn Funeral home in Kansas City Mo on June 13th, 2024 at 10:00 am for visitation, followed by the funeral service beginning at 12Noon.  Graveside services will be held immediately after at Memorial Park Cemetery.
