Jack G. Hickman Jr., age 70, of Independence, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly in Bentonville, Arkansas, on August 10, 2025.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Wanda Jean (Bedell) Hickman and Jack G. Hickman Sr., Jack graduated from East High School, before his family moved to Grain Valley, Missouri. He spent the remainder of his life in Independence, Missouri, where he worked and raised his son, Jack G. Hickman III. He shared 34 amazing years with his beloved wife, Linda, who preceded him in death in 2022. Jack and Linda enjoyed a wonderful life surrounded by the most loving family and friends one could ask for. Together they traveled across the United States and Canada, collecting tales of their adventures and sharing them with anyone willing to listen. After Linda's passing, Jack continued his travels, enjoying several trips including Arkansas, North Carolina, and Arizona, always surrounded by family.
Jack's love for his family was immense. Whether as a Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother-in-law or Friend, Jack was always interested in the goings-on of the family and tried to keep tabs on everyone—be it the Chiefs, the weather (no matter where you lived), or how anyone's yards were doing (his own being a particular point of pride). He wanted to ensure everyone was doing well and living their best lives. Jack especially loved telling tales of his grandson, Asher, whether of school, soccer, or any of his life's pursuits—his pride showed no bounds. Family and friends, near and far, could always count on Jack's famous one-liners, such as walking into a room full of kids and asking for a "Headcount on Misfits," or cracking that first Coke Zero or beer of the day and claiming, "Here's to the first one of the day, boys". His wry smile, his wit, and his warm presence were infectious and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Linda S. Hickman; his mother, Wanda Jean Hickman; and his father, Jack G. Hickman Sr. He is survived by his son, Jack G. Hickman III (Jessica) and grandson, Asher; his siblings, Jeanie Ellen Cook (Art), Patricia Alfrey (Leroy), Mike Hickman (Paula), and Clark Hickman; along with dozens of loved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
