Kansas City North

Jacob Lawrence Brick, 22, of Kansas City's Northland, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2025. He was born on April 1, 2003, in Overland Park, Kansas, the beloved son of Gregg and Melissa (Mitchell) Brick.

Jacob was a lifelong resident of the Northland area. He was a route driver for DHL, and those who knew him would agree that his dedication to his work mirrored his enthusiastic spirit in all areas of life.

From a young age, Jacob cultivated a love for sports. When he was five years old, he began playing flag football for the NSYFL Northland Chiefs. As he grew, he transitioned to tackle football, continuing to play for the Northland Chiefs, and later for the NECCO Raiders in seventh and eighth grade. His passion for the game continued into high school, where he proudly played for the Staley High School Falcons. Jacob graduated from Liberty North High School in 2021.

Jacob's love for sports extended beyond his playing days. He enjoyed spending time with friends, and truly enjoyed getting together to play basketball. He was an ardent fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves, always cheering them on. Regardless of the outcome, he remained a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. He also enjoyed baseball and was huge fan of the Kansas City Royals, even attending the 2015 World Series parade to celebrate their victory. In college sports, he enthusiastically supported the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball and football teams.

In addition to his love for sports, Jacob found relaxation and happiness in music. He possessed a talent for making his own music and beats, which he proudly shared with others.

More than anything else Jacob's had an unending love for his family. He treasured spending time with them and creating unforgettable memories through travel. One of his favorite destinations was Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean. He also enjoyed traveling with his friends to California and Florida.

Jacob is survived by his loving parents, Gregg and Melissa Brick; his sister, Morgan Brick; his paternal grandmother, Karen Bruns; his maternal grandfather, Harry Mitchell; his uncles, Chad Bruns (Nikki), Bill Mitchell (Dory), and Paul Mitchell (Linde); his aunt, Kim Brick; and his cousins, Anna Mitchell and Mila Mitchell.

Jacob embraced life to the fullest, living it as his own person, enjoying the company of those around him. Everyone who met Jacob felt his dedication and love for his parents and sister Morgan. He will always be in our hearts and forever missed.
