Jackie was born in 1947 in Dodge City, KS to Jack and Dorothy (Leighty) Maskus. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; and brother, Ken.
She leaves behind two children, Nathan Loontjer and Erin Pagel (Mike); siblings Stephen Maskus (Alisa), Gail Webert (Mike), Keith Maskus (Sue), Michael Maskus (Cathy), and sister-in-law Vicki Maskus (Ken); grandchildren Jacob Pagel (Kat), Gary Pagel, Abigail Pagel, Timothy Pagel; and one great-grandson, Nathan Pagel.
Jackie graduated from Concordia Lutheran College in Seward, Nebraska, in 1969. She and husband Wayne became teachers and active church members at St. Paul in Northville, MI, where they started a family and made many friendships that would last a lifetime. Jackie and Wayne took a call to Calvary Lutheran School in Kansas City in 1987, where she would teach until her retirement in 2014.
Even after her retirement, Jackie remained active in the church and school, as well as the “Big Blue” condominium in Brookside she moved into in 2010. While she was devoted to her students, colleagues, and friends, she loved her family above all else, especially her four grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
