James "Jim" Robert Power

December 20, 1943 — January 11, 2026

James (Jim) Robert Power experienced victory over death through his faith in Jesus Christ on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on December 20, 1943, in Liberty, MO to Paul & Roma Power. He lived his entire life in the Liberty/Pleasant Valley area graduating from Liberty High School in 1961.

He proudly served in the US Air Force from June 29, 1962, to June 28, 1966, as a Jet Mechanic on F4 aircraft and retired as a crew chief. After his service, Jim moved to Pleasant Valley in 1968 with his 1st wife, the mother of his three daughters. He was active in his community as a Volunteer Firefighter for many years.

Jim was a lifelong member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where he served faithfully in numerous ministries. He was part of the Pulpit Committee that selected Pastor Vernon Armitage in 1972, and he contributed to the youth, bus, worship and arts ministries. Jim served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and later as a Community Group Director. His passion for Christ led him on mission trips to build schools and churches from New York to Russia to Thailand, Israel and Haiti.

Professionally, Jim retired as an Electrician from the Veterans Administration but continued helping others through odd jobs and acts of service.

In 2002 Jim was blessed to meet Evevon M. Mason at a Worlds of Fun Pleasant Valley Baptist Church event, and they married on February 28, 2003. Together they shared 22 wonderful years filled with travel to Florida, cruising the high seas, trips to Branson and cherished memories with their community group, “The Power Pack.”

Jim loved his family deeply and was present in every way. He had special nicknames for his daughters – Jac (Jacque), Brown Eyes (Amber) and Sunshine (Heather) – and delighted in sharing wisdom and humor. His generosity, faith and devotion to God’s work left a lasting legacy.

His beloved wife, Evevon, shared that Jim never missed a chance to help others – whether fixing something that was broken or offering a listening ear when someone needed comfort. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and he was a loyal, faithful friend to many.

His son-in-law Michael says he has never met anyone more generous with their time and was always willing to help others.

His son-in-law Doug recalls if there ever was a discussion occurring and dad wanted to interject during the discussion he would simply clear his throat to get everyone’s attention.

Michael and Doug both would always get tickled to hear him say: Hello, what am I seeing here? Or don’t tell your mother – when something would go awry. Or what if we went this way, always trying to find a faster way to get somewhere.

His consummate advice for his wife was Just Relax!

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Roma Power, Sisters Jean and Judy, brother Jerry, mother of his daughters Betty and grandson Bradley.

He is survived by his wife Evevon Power, daughter Jacque Zink (husband Doug) of Pleasant Valley, daughter Amber Coffey (husband Michael) of Pleasant Valley, daughter Heather Power of Pleasant Valley, grandsons – Calvin, Joshua & James, great grandchildren Teegan, Taiden, Malyn, Tyrinn, Averie, Autumn & Branson. Brother Wayne Power (wife Judy) of California, Sister Patricia Cecil (husband Ernie) of Harrisonville, Sister-in-Law Sallie Woodward (husband Mike) of Florida. Along with a plethora of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
