James Gilbert Waggoner Sr. was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He spent most of his younger years growing up in Urbana, Missouri and eventually moved into the Kansas City area where he was a beloved member of his community.
Jim was a dedicated professional in the automotive field and founded Diamond Muffler Shop in 1980. He was a life member of the Valley of Kansas City Scottish Rite, achieving the 32nd degree in 1982. He was also a member of Summit Masonic Lodge #263 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He joined the Ararat Shrine in 1982. He was in the Provost, the Jackson County Shrine Club, the Director’s Staff and the Cooking Club. He was appointed to the Divan as Director of the Temple and served in that capacity for years. In 2001, he became a member of the Order of Quetzalcoatl, serving as Camaxtli in 2007 and was inducted into the Order of Knights, Eagles and Tigers. He was also a proud member of the Royal Order Court #54 of the Jesters.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Dora Daphene Waggoner, his children James Gilbert Waggoner Jr. (wife Teresa Bailey-Waggoner) and Sherrill Annette Waggoner, his stepchildren Shaun Helm and Lisa Helm Jeffries, his sister Jackie Mahurin, and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his second wife Darlene Waggoner, his adopted son Seth Waggoner, and his other siblings.
Jim will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and his many contributions to the Masonic and Shrine organizations.
