Mrs. Jessie Belle Oswald, 86, died peacefully May 9. 2025 at Northland Rehabilitation & Healthcare. Jessie was born in Kansas City, MO June 17, 1938, to Harley and Lena Teale Livingston.

She was a 1956 graduate of Northeast High School. Wile attending High School she worked as a secretary for Zale’s Jewelry Store. After graduation she married William Ralph Oswald, Jr. June 16, 1956. Bill was serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Mercury in the Mediterranean at the time the couple celebrated the birth of their first child Roger Lee on April 6, 1957. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy Bill and Jessie lived in Independence, MO until 1964 when they bought their home in Liberty, MO. The couple welcomed two more sons, Marty in December 1964 and Troy in September 1966.

Jessie became a career homemaker, loving mother and wife to her family. Jessie was a very talented seamstress and once made the uniforms for the Liberty Marching Drum Team led by Sgt. Jimmie Houston of the Liberty Police Department. Besides sewing, Jessie loved knitting and crocheting, gardening and raising African Violets. Jessie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing card games and going to the Liberty Senior Center to play bingo and other activities. She love d to watch the Chiefs and Royals play ball. She also enjoyed watching professional wrestling on television.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2010. She is survived by her sons: Roger, Marty and Troy Oswald as well as her two grandchildren, Jesse Hernandez and Sharla Sawle.

Visitation will be 5 – 7pm, Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel (1640 North MO 291 Hwy, Liberty, MO 64068) Graveside Services will be 10:00am Friday, May 30, 2025 at New Hope Cemetery, Liberty, MO.

Jessie’s family suggest in Lieu of flowers please make donations to the City of Liberty Animal Shelter.

The family would like to thank all of Jessie’s wonderful caregivers, Pamela, Theresa and Lisa. A special thanks to the staff and hospice team of Northland Rehabilitation & Healthcare for all their compassion, dedication and care for Jessie and her family.
