Celebrating the Life of Jimmie Jennings
February 25, 1954 – October 20, 2025
Jimmie Jennings, 71, was a loving, peaceful soul whose warmth could light up any room she entered. Born in Fordyce, Arkansas, to Geneva Harrison and Homer Cook, Jimmie later made Kansas City her lifelong home — a city she filled with love, laughter, and light.
A proud 1972 graduate of Paseo High School, Jimmie went on to dedicate more than 35 years of service to the IRS, where she built lifelong friendships and earned the respect of everyone she worked with. After a remarkable career, she retired in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and kindness.
Jimmie was first married to Danny Stovell, with whom she shared her beloved son Lorenzo Stovell. She later found her soulmate and lifelong partner in Leonard Jennings, and together they were blessed with a son, Leonard Jennings II. This year, Jimmie and Leonard joyfully celebrated 50 years of marriage, a true testament to their love, faith, and devotion to one another.
She was more than a mother and wife — she was a devoted sister, loyal friend, and the heart of her family. Jimmie loved bringing people together, planning parties, decorating for the holidays, and creating joy wherever she went. Her home was always open, her smile always bright, and her spirit always full of love.
She will be remembered as the kind of mother and grandmother who gave endlessly — nurturing, patient, and full of grace. Her light and energy touched everyone she met, and her legacy will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, family, and all who were blessed to know her.
Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit lives on — vibrant, loving, and eternal. Jimmie’s life was a celebration of joy, family, and faith, and her memory will forever be a source of peace and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Geneva; her father, Homer; her sister, Patricia; and her brother, Harold.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband and soulmate, Leonard Jennings; her loving sons, Lorenzo and Leonard Jennings II; her brothers, Bobby, Danny, and Artie; her sisters, Saundra and Jackie; her beloved grandchildren, Sadee, Lorenzo, and Zuri; and her precious great-grandchildren, Kyra Bella, Lorelai, Charlotte, and Mackenly.
Her love, light, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ephesians 1:13–14
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
