Jimmie Dale Mooney 80, of David City, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 in Surprise, Nebraska. He was born on March 30, 1946, in Gordon, Nebraska, to Ruben and Virginia (Osborne) Mooney. He spent his childhood in Gordon and graduated from Gordon High School.
Following graduation, Jim worked at the Mission Ranch in Gordon before being drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served two tours during the Vietnam War.
After completing his military service, Jim returned to Kansas City, where he became a highly respected and accomplished horse trainer. His dedication and expertise earned him the Missouri State Championship in horse training.
He later joined Midwest Embroidery and eventually purchased the business. Jim successfully owned and operated the company for several years before retiring.
After retirement, Jim moved to David City. He had a passion for gardening and had artistic talent. He especially enjoyed home interior design and had a gift for transforming spaces with his own creative style and personal touch.
Jim is survived by his brother, Bill (Yvonne) Mooney of Ellsworth, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; and many friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Virginia Mooney; his sisters, Mary Kohl and Helen Gran; and his brother, Ben Mooney.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Park Lawn Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum in Kansas City, Missouri.
