John Russell Lane, age 50, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at 11:39 PM. Born on April 27, 1976, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the cherished son of John Lane and Rhonda Lane.

A proud graduate of Raytown South High School, John later married Laura Merrick, with whom he built a loving family. His professional journey began at Intec Construction Company, where he thrived as a union laborer, exemplifying a strong work ethic and passion for his craft. It was during this time that he welcomed his beloved son, John Russell Lane Jr. (affectionately known as Junebug), into the world.

Known for his generosity and loyalty, John had a profound love for hunting and the outdoors. He dedicated 14 years to the 1290, significantly contributing to his community and forming lifelong friendships.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Rodney Lane. He is survived by his son, John Russell Lane Jr. (Junebug); his older brother, Bradley Lane; his younger brother, Steven Lane; and a wide circle of friends and family who will remember him fondly. 

Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 1-2 PM at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road. Funeral Service will follow in Thursday at 2 PM. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, in Kansas City, Missouri.
