John Leroy McWhorter

John Lereoy McWhorter, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Northcare Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.

John was born on August 6, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to Francis and Alice (Kennison) McWhorter. He grew up in the Kansas City Northland and attended Winnetonka High School. After school he worked for Roach Cadillac in Kansas City and was a mechanic for the biggest part of his life. He joined the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. In 2010, he met Tammy Irey and the two were married on February 25, 2017.

John loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles. From working on them, to driving them on the open road. When it came to cars, hot rods, racing, and engines, he was all for it!

John was preceded in death by his father, Francis McWhorter; and son, Shawn McWhorter. He is survived by his mother, Alice McWhorter; his wife, Tammy McWhorter; step son, Rodney Irey; grandchildren, Emma Hicks, Layla Hicks, and Levi Irey; and his sisters, Carol, Shelia, and Katie.
